Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows… it has finally come to an end…

July 25th, 2007 by xell

“I FINALLY FINISHED THE GOD DAMN BLOODY BOOK”I came bursting out from my room on Sunday night, screaming as my family members just gave me one look and resumed back to what they were doing.

Anyway, the Harry Potter series has finally come to an end when the final book was released to the public on Saturday, 21st July 2007. When I first heard the title, I went “Harry Potter and what-the Hollows?” But anyway, the explanation of the title would definitely be explained in the book. So, don’t fret bout the weirdness of the title…

And when I thought the frenzy over the release of the final book only applies to children and teenagers, how wrong I was… my colleagues actually left for KLCC at 3am just to be the first few honoured people to purchase the book! Around 7.45 am, I heard Mandy Moore singing “Only Hope”, and I was like… what the… answered my mobile to hear Bee screaming at me that she got her book already… Thank goodness I’m those people who can easily drop back dead on the bed after being woken up by crazy friends at unearthly hours… Anyway, based on her description of the crowd going crazy the moment they open the doors of KLCC, I was imagining a scene from New Radical’s MTV “You get what you give”.

While my colleagues happily got their books first thing in the morning, I was reassured many times by 1U’s MPH that there was no such thing as “first five people get something” promo. And so I was not bothered to portray my competitiveness by camping out at 1U like them. I pre-ordered my copy from MPH while my colleagues pre-ordered theirs from Kinokuniya instead, and so we were on separate arenas. Anyway, I only went to get my book around 1pm coz I bought tickets for the 5th HP movie for 2.30pm (now this was where I showed my competitiveness by buying the tickets one week earlier online) and forced my bro to go along. He was actually quite reluctant to watch the movie coz his friends didn’t like it and one actually felt like puking (seriously, I will laugh at the person if I know who it was but I don’t think my bro would want me to torture his friends anymore) and even my hair stylist advised ah ya not to watch it. But anyway, I have digress again…

All my Hide plushies were delighted to finally get their hands on the final HP book

Which comes with a Harry Potter mug (Kakkoii Hide really fit just nicely in the mug…)

and all packaged together into a cool looking Harry Potter paper bag (my Banzai Hide really enjoying himself with the paper bag…)

Everyone waiting for me to read the book….

Uwaahh, my Hide plushies can really pose well, just like their owner! Muahahaha

Back to the book, I actually ended up multiple paper cuts all over my right thumb and now it’s heavily bandaged with a super thick plaster coz I left my cute plasters in the office… At least I have prove to show how intense I was with the book… but lucky I didn’t leave a trail of blood all over the pages… hahaha I didn’t even realised my thumb was cut until I went to sleep and was wondering why the hell my thumb was itching…

Well, my comment on the book… it was depressing for me… even ah ya got depress reading the first chapter that she couldn’t take it. I had to end up narrating the whole story to her instead. And also to the rest of siblings coz my elder sis always start reading a book by starting from the last page while my bro don’t read at all except for comics…

And I can’t believe only me and Deb are the only one among our colleagues who have finished the book! Goodness, I purposely rushed to complete it so that they won’t ruin the story for me when I get back to work on Monday! At least I’m a kind person who doesn’t like to ruin other people’s suspense… unless they asked me to tell them what happen…

My whole collection of Harry Potter books, and I just realised I’m missing the second book (my Shigure plushies wanted to join in with the posing too…)

Comparison of the book and movie… I still prefer the book…
